Thomas Vance

A native of Augusta, Georgia, Thomas’ family left his birth place and he would start school in Miami, Florida. After a few years in the sunshine state, he visited family in South Carolina for the summer. He later returned to live with his aunt and uncle, graduating, Bell Street High School and later graduating South Carolina State College as President of The Student Government Association with a BS in Professional Drama. Thomas headed west with new wife Jo Ann, seeking fame and fortune in theatre, television and/or radio. A little work could not sustain this young bright-eyed couple. Finding work with the Sears Corporation, Thomas went from big ticket salesman in vacuum cleaners to Division Manager of Carpets and Drapery (at Sears Chula Vista ’76-’80). He would leave Sears to go full time in owning and developing residential properties in San Diego, Ca; Clinton, SC; and Kansas City, Mo. Currently, Thomas manages the family properties in San Diego; is founder and CEO of Ella C Savage Foundation Inc. (a nonprofit for community development and enrichment); owns and operates The Kingdom Building LLC; works with Broadway Heights Community Council; and sits on the trustee board of Bethel AME Church San Diego.
